On May 13, we received a phone call that my Grandma May Darrington had passed away. We knew it was coming, but it still brings sadness when it finally does come. We had called a couple days earlier and sang "Grandma dear, we love you so" to her while she was sleeping. She is definitely going to be missed. She was one of a kind. She was always so chipper and fun to be around. There was always a treat waiting for you when you were at her home and even when she was at the assisted living center. I have so many wonderful memories with my Grandma. I remember going to her 2nd grade class when I was in 2nd grade. She made everyone feel so special, and that they were her #1. The best advice I ever received was from my Grandma. When I was dating Greg, there were so many opinions and thoughts given to me about my situation. Well, my grandma took me aside and said, "Rachelle, you listen to everyone and act like they have given you the best advice, and then you just do what you want!" I will always remember that - and that is what I tried to do! I find it no coincidence that I had thought to name our coming baby "Mayzie" after my Grandma. I am thankful I was able to call her and let her know we wanted to name our next little girl after her. I always remember my dad calling Grandma "Mayzie" and she is definitely someone I hope our little girl will grow up to be like!
